Below is an email I received from Sue Kelly in reply to the
original message I sent her listed below her response.
SUE KELLY -
Great Great Great Grand Daughter of Jacques Dauphinais
Hi Sharon,
You are doing a great job. This e mail triggered a distant
memory. I
remember Grandma Delina telling me a story she had heard about
her
grandparents ( or great grandparent) in Canada, during a war
(1812 ?)
The soldiers came around to homes to drag men off to the draft.
Grandma hid her husband under a wash tub to keep him from being
caught.
I think it worked. Do not remember much else.
I recall Delina, or my mother, telling me a another story when I
was
little. I do not know if it was true.
Someone ( I had thought it would be Olivine Dauphinais) was
still
corresponding with a boy ( back in Canada?),
when she met (Alfred?). She still cared for the boy very
much.
(Alfred?) was able to intercept the letters the boy sent to (
Olivine?)
because he worked at the Post Office ( maybe he just knew
someone who
worked at the Post Office?). When the letters stopped,
(Olivine?) was
willing to take up with ( Alfred?). A long time latter,
after they were
married, (Olivine?) found the letters that( Alfred?) had kept in
a
trunk. She was mighty upset. Not very smart of her husband
to have kept
the letters, and why would he have? It could have been
about another
set of grandparents in Canada. The boy may have been from just
another
town. Did you come across any relative who ever
worked in a post
office?
Keep up the good work. We are enjoying very much.
Sue

I just watched a preview about an upcoming documentary regarding
the
war of 1812 when the british invaded canada. this is the
year Paul
Dauphinais was born. Paul is Delina Losty's grandfather.
It will be aired in September of this year on the 12th.
I know that is a long way off... and I am bound to forget... so
on
September 12th... whoever can remember it is coming on... please
email
me and remind me... im going to make a note and put it on my
refrigerator but it might get lost. I want to watch
it.. it will tell
me a lot about what life was like for Paul's parents, Jacques
Dauphinais
and wife Josephte and their children which is when they were
living
there.
hopefully one of us will remember. Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu
