Francis Rousselle (Russell) and Sophronia St Armand immigrated in 1862.
Both of Alfred's parents, Francis Rousselle (Russell) born in 1819 and Sophronia St Armand born in 1827 were Canadian born French descendants.

Due to a lack of records, the U.S. destination of the Russell Family in 1862 is unknown at this time, however, eight years later, in 1870, we find them in the U.S Census living in Hinsdale, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Which is only 7 miles east of the Berkshire County Seat located in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
Note: The 1870 U.S. Hindsdale, Massachusetts Census enumerator used the American variation of their name -- listing it as Russell
During the summer of 1870, Francis Russell was 50 years of age and his wife
Sophronia was 42. Their eldest son Nelson Russell age 20, daughter Eliza Russell age 16, Mary Russell age 14, Freddie (Alfred) age 12 and Almand Russell age 9 were all working in the "Woolen Mills" in Hinsdale, including their father Francis. Mother Sophronia Russell was at home keeping house and caring for their two youngest children -- Joseph age 4 & Julia age 1.
All of the Francis Russell & Sophriana St. Armand's children were born in Canada except Almand, Joseph & Julia who were born in Massachusetts.

Eliza Russell was born in Canada 1854
Mary Russell was born in Canada 1856
Alfred Russell was born in Canada 1858
Almand Russell was born in Massachusetts 1861
Joseph Russell was born in Massachusetts 1866
Julia Russell was born in Massachusetts 1869
